LincSpun™ Short Staple Ring Spinning Technology

Infographic displaying LincSpun Trinomax yarn technology with three spools of yarn, highlighting the composite structure of one cotton core fibre and two nylon filaments.

LincSpun™ is an advanced short staple spinning technology designed to enhance conventional ring-spun yarns. Developed as a retrofit system for standard ring spinning frames, LincSpun enables cotton, cellulose and other short staple fibres to be spun into stronger, smoother and more durable yarns.

Unlike traditional ring spinning, which uses only short staple roving, LincSpun creates a specially engineered yarn structure by combining the short staple fibre with two continuous filament components. One filament supports the yarn structure, while the second filament helps bind and wrap the fibre assembly. This produces a more controlled and reinforced yarn while retaining the familiar advantages of ring-spun short staple fibres.

How the System Works

The LincSpun system can be adapted to classical short staple ring spinning machinery. With the addition of filament bobbin fittings and dedicated guide systems, two filaments are introduced and combined with the short staple roving during the spinning process.

This allows manufacturers to upgrade existing ring spinning equipment rather than replacing the full spinning line. The result is a distinctive three-component yarn construction:

Short staple roving + support filament + wrapping filament

This structure differentiates LincSpun from conventional ring-spun, core-spun and SIROFIL yarns.

Benefits of LincSpun Yarn

LincSpun technology is designed to improve yarn and fabric performance, particularly where strength, durability and surface quality are important.

Key benefits include:

  • Increased yarn strength
  • Improved fabric durability
  • Lower yarn hairiness
  • Reduced pilling
  • Better abrasion resistance
  • Improved yarn regularity
  • Enhanced tenacity and elongation
  • Potential for lighter yet stronger fabrics

Suitable Fibre Applications

LincSpun is suitable for short staple spinning applications, including:

  • Cotton
  • Cellulose fibres
  • Blends using short staple fibres

For cotton spinning, the technology offers a way to improve the performance of traditional ring-spun cotton yarns while maintaining the desirable natural fibre characteristics valued by brands, mills and end users.

Why LincSpun?

LincSpun provides a practical route to higher-performance short staple yarns using adapted ring spinning technology. By combining familiar ring spinning principles with a patented filament-supported yarn structure, LincSpun helps mills produce yarns with improved strength, regularity and fabric performance.

LincSpun™ brings added performance to short staple ring spinning — stronger yarns, cleaner surfaces and more durable fabrics.
